26 Ianuarie 2009 - Coaching-ul managerial - o alternativă viabilă în situaţii de criză
Roderik Bender (1968) is an Industrial & Organisational psychologist from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He works as a management and communication trainer and coach since 1995. Besides management and communication skills for people in organisations, his initial focus was on didactical training for other trainers and coaches. Further on in his career his interest in the more personal side of the working individual grew. He followed an education in Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) in New York, USA. At present he is tied to the Albert Ellis Institute as Supervisor and REBT-therapist.
From 1995 to 2003 Roderik was employed as trainer/advisor with training and consultancy group Schouten & Nelissen. He developed ‘in-company’ training programmes for organisations and gave open courses on subjects like management, communication, REBT, stress and ‘train-the-trainer’. To get a more personal perspective on management, he also was manager at Schouten & Nelissen for two years.
In 2003 he started his own business in order to expand on the fields of writing and individual coaching. Roderik has multiple clients for whom he provides training, supervision, coaching and advice. Some of his activities take place in his work practice at home. He has recently extended into giving trainings on the subjects of coaching and career development. In 2007/2008 he trained Chinese trainers in Beijing, China, broadening his international horizon. Besides REBT, his methodological competencies include Voice Dialogue and Provocative Coaching. Roderik has co-written three books, including one Dutch bestseller on REBT and stress.
Presentation and approach
Workshop 1. Managing your people at work
You’re a manager or director and you wonder if you bring out the best in your employees. Maybe a few of them are causing you trouble, maybe they all more or less seem to be doing fine. But are they performing to the best of their abilities? Do you, as their manager or director, give them the leadership that they need?
These days, we know that successful leadership takes not only focusing on tasks, but also on relations and human issues. In other words, you need people to be content and stay at their work, but you also need to get the job done! And where do you find the balance between the two?
Each one of your employees seems to require a different approach. But which should it be? What do you do with the employee who is unwilling? And what do you do with the employee who doesn’t seem to understand what he has to do? Is “the hard line” required of you, or a more patient approach? And are you sure that you deal with each individual effectively?
During the training we will find out what works for you and your employees, and what doesn’t. We will use the tools given to us by the theory of Situational Leadership (by Hearsy & Blanchard). You will get new ideas and practice new strategies that will match your leadership style optimally to your desired outcomes and your employees’ needs.
Workshop 2. Dealing with stress at work
Stress at work today is very common. Work load, deadlines, high expectations, or conflicts between people, sleeplessness and slow business. Anxiety, insecurity or anger and frustration. Too much stress is often the result. However, a lot of this stress is unnecessarily.
During this day of training we will look at what you yourself can do to reduce your stress at work. With the help of current cognitive psychological methods you will discover new ways of thinking to calm you down and thus be better equipped to deal with your demanding tasks.
On the training we will focus on your personal questions and issues that cause you too much stress at work. Not theory, but your daily work practice will take center stage during the training. At the end of the day you will have a new and less stressful perspective on your daily work.
